The ever-exciting Omaha poker game was adapted from the popular Texas Hold'em. At the deal, all players receive four cards. The dealt cards only belong to the player who receives them, and represent hole cards. On the board, five community cards are dealt face-up. All players create the best five-card poker hand from their own two hole cards and from three of the five community cards. Omaha poker hand rankings can be found below.
Below are the rules for Pot Limit Omaha Poker games. Rules in Pot Limit Omaha are almost the same as those for Fix Limit Omaha; the difference is in the betting structure.
In Omaha Poker, a disk indicates "the button" by which a player is denoted as being the dealer of the current game. Before the beginning of the game, the player that is immediately clockwise from the dealer posts the "small blind", typically half a small bet (for example, $1 in a $2/$4 Omaha game). The player clockwise from the small blind posts the "big blind", which is equal to the sum of the small bet ($2 in a $2/$4 Omaha game). All players obtain their own four-four hole cards in the next step. The betting action starts with the player placed in the clockwise direction from the big blind, and so on.
After the betting, the flop is dealt face-up on the board. The flop is actually the three community cards, which can be used by all active players. Play begins with the active player immediately clockwise from the button. All bets and raises take place in small bets (increments of $2 in a $2/$4 game). After the betting action, the turn is dealt face-up on the board. The turn is the fourth community card in the Omaha game. Play begins with the active player immediately clockwise from the button. In this round of Omaha, the betting doubles from the small bet to the big bet. In a $2/$4 game, betting per turn is completed in $4 increments.
After the turn action, the river is dealt face-up on the board. The river is the fifth and final community card in the Omaha game. Play begins with the active player directly clockwise from the button.
If more than one player is still left after the final betting round in the game, then the last bettor or raiser shows his or her cards. In cases when there was no bet in the final round the active player directly clockwise from the button shows his or her cards first. The player who has the best five-card hand wins the pot. In Omaha, all players have to create the best five-card hand from two of their four hole cards in combination with three of the five community cards. Should the best five-card hand be held by more than one player, then the pot is divided between them in equal amounts.
It is possible to start the next Omaha poker game after the pot has been awarded. The dealer button moves to the next player directly clockwise from the button at this time.
